Government
Relations
Perhaps the most significant contribution which the
Association makes to the membership is its function as a governmental
advocate. During the legislative session, Association staff monitor
thousands of bills and select those which may affect medical and/or
human service agencies. Those selected pieces of legislation are
followed with special attention devoted to monitoring the status of the
bills. Staff are then prepared to notify members about testimony, letter
writing or personal contact with legislators or the Governor.
The Association also maintains a liaison relationship
with state agencies that interact in the delivery of human services.
These relationships facilitate input and comment on issues which
directly or indirectly impact the effectiveness of our membership.
This involvement with the executive and legislative
branches of Illinois government offers members of the Association a keen
insight into what is or may be affecting them. Numerous years of
experience in these areas have developed a well respected organization
whose expertise is sought out by governmental entities.
