Erin Compton
Erin Compton is an 18-year-old senior, taking IL Virtual School and Academy classes through her Homeschool of Westmont High School. She loves history, math, and science. Erin lives a full life in the community including dancing professionally with Unfolding Disability Futures. She also competes for Expression Dance and has performed in Joffrey Ballet’s Nutcracker. When not dancing, she’s enjoying sports, including playing hockey with Chicago Special Hockey. This last spring she began working for the Chicago Cubs through Angels for Higher, a non-profit recruiting agency for people with Down syndrome. Erin is hopeful about independent living opportunities in the community that will allow her to continue living a meaningful, productive life.

Opening Keynote Session  - August 30, 2023 │1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Join IARF Board Chair Kim Zoeller, President & CEO Josh Evans, and our special guest keynote presenter Erin Compton for the opening session of the 2023 IARF Educational Conference & Expo: Leading, Learning, and Innovating: Growing Our Vision with the Next Generation.  We’re excited to feature Erin Compton, an Illinois resident, ……who received a standing ovation earlier this year by the Senate Appropriations – Health and Human Services Committee for her compelling testimony urging further investment into Direct Support Professional wages and community-based services and supports.  Erin’s advocacy in her own words will be the perfect way for us to start our multi-day conference as a reminder of our shared goals and values.
